The Honest Boy


Mr. Dubblin was an old yet a rich man. He was a businessman and lived in Paris. Despite his old age, Mr. Dubblin he loved to travel. Hence, he had met many types of people and also knew many languages. He was a loyal man but doubted everything he saw. One day, he was on a visit to India and decided to use a train to go to the national capital from the north of the country.
During the journey, a young but handicapped man came to him with a box of shoe polish. “Do you want me to polish your shoes sir?” asked the boy. Getting suspicious of the boy, Mr. Dubblin shook his head. One of the passengers sitting next to Mr. Dubblin took pity and offered the boy five rupees. Offended, the boy shouted, “ I’m no beggar !”.One passenger called the boy over and asked him to polish his shoes. The boy started polishing the passenger’s shoes when Mr. Dubblin received a phone call. He chated for a few minutes and kept his phone next to him. Suddenly the train halted and the passengers got out. The shoe shiner rushed to get out as well and noticed Mr. Dubblin’s phone on the seat. He quickly picked it up and tried finding Mr. Dubblin. He spotted the old man and ran up to him and said, “ You left your mobile phone, Sir ! “ The old man realized his mistake and offered the boy fifty rupees as a reward. The boy refused to accept it and replied, “ I only take the money which I earn by polishing shoes. “ Mr. Dubblin got his shoes polished in order to help the boy. Happy with the money he made, the boy moved on.
